N. N. Dikov studied about 67 sites on the Kamchatka Peninsula; he identified the supporting stratified complexes of unmixed layers of the Ushki sites, which became the basis for the periodization of the Stone Age in the North of the Russian Far East. He used a comprehensive interdisciplinary
approach and the latest methods for that period of time and identified common patterns and features of the historical development of the region. Their correlation with the general patterns of the historical process allowed the scientist to conclude about the «progressive development» in the Stone Age and the «original history» of the peninsula's population.
