этапах история Гижигинска изучалась исключительно на основе письменных источников (архивных документов, исторических описаний). Gizhiginsk city is a monument to the development of the northern territories of Russia by Russian explorers, merchants and industrialists in the XVII–XVIII centuries. It was registered as an identified object of the archaeological heritage of the Magadan region in 2020, and today it is being investigated by archaeological methods. A historiographical review of published research is needed to interpret the artifacts obtained. Three stages of studying the history of the city are highlighted: the Soviet period (1960–1980), the post-Soviet period (1990–2000) and the modern period (2020–2024). At the first stages, the history of Gizhiginsk
was studied exclusively on the basis of written sources (archival documents, historical descriptions). The third stage is characterized by the use of archaeological data, which allows not only to demonstrate the data obtained at the first stages, but also to identify a number of promising areas of research.
